Chives belong to the Allium genus. which also includes garlic. onions. and leeks. Chives. are a green vegetable with a mild onion-like flavor. People have cultivated chives for centuries for their characteristic pungent flavors in cooking and their medicinal properties.
Chives also contain a small amount of choline. Choline is an important nutrient that helps maintain the structure of cellular membranes.. helping with mood. memory. muscle control. and other brain and nervous system functions.
